On the 22nd of April on club Piens travelling Internationa Performance Art festival Diverse Universe happened in club Piens. This was second time when festival stopped in Latvia. 16 artists from 6 countries performed during the festival - USA, Japan, France, Sweden, Estonia and Latvia.
American artist Jill McDermid dressed in American flag and other national symbols as a queen of the evening was propageting USA, inviting audience to become Americans.
Estonian Villekaarel Viirelaid was marching from the point A to point B on the terrace of club in the orchestra music. He was fullfilling the orders of his fuehrer of imagination.
Like a lost builder caught up in barrel, Latvian artist Kirils Panteļejevs was wandering around the territory of club.
Swedish artist Morgan Schagerberg has arranged his own, very intime massage salon, where he offered to make massage for the audience. People, who didnt close up their eyes during this relaxing massage could view the exhibition of his erotic drawings.
American Ninnie Nuevo was performing several times during the evening. She sang quite awry self composed songs using different musical instruments, public always clapped afterwards.
Frenchman Roshdy save the life of the rooster - national bird of France. Artist was burried into ground so that only his red haired head was outside. Using megaphone, he made charity action to collect money for roosters natural eksistence till it`s end. Public donated 30 Lats and rooster happily lives in Mazsalaca countryside now.
Latvian performance art group AUSEKLIC/USINS made performance where invited audience to gun at two shabby pupils using catapults and peas. It was accompanied by sorrowful music played by cello. Seemed that intellect of the audience won, because they didnt want to let off steam over these miserable, weaponless creatures.
American Hoke Ericsson was using many strange objects in his perfomance. At the end he made dessert from bananas and cherries, that he warmed up wrapped in the pages of porno journals. Then he offered this to audience. It was tasty!
Rubens Group from Estonia showed short, but powerful performance, where fleshy woman in a white, sexy, almost see-through dress was connected with thin woman in black. There was box on the back of the white woman, where black woman blew funeral music. They both made mournful procession on the street.
Latvian artist Vita Radziņa made dance performance. There was dancer in a grey and torn dress with beaten face. She was dancing on the backround of video screen where was video against cutting the trees.
Japanese Oikado Ichiro made dance performance, where he changed from one character to another with the help of masks. He was lion, woman, himself. Performance was accompanied by saxophone solo and it ended with impressive flames of fire, that artist blew at the high of few meters.
Estonian performance art group Non Grata shaked the relaxed atmosphere of the festival. They brought chaoss with the help of fire, smoke and noise. There came several aliens, brain head, girl who made tricks with fire, water splinkler, bramin eater gorilla, Simpson, who was observing all this madness very quietly.
American Steve Vanoni fixed up with cycling contest Tour Riga. He choosed two people from audience and gave them bicycles, to the rest of public he gave whistles, so they can support the bikers. When the winner was clear, there was jubilance, champagne and fireworks.
