The basic idea of our performances is to give a chance to the viewers to forget about reality and get a shot of positive energy,
Our spectator should feel that everything is going on and around near him and that he is the center of the action,
Already from the first performance we have realized the idea of involving the viewer, asking him to do something during the performance.
Totaldobže is a group composed of three artists: Krists Zankovskis, Dāvis Līcītis and Kaspars Lielgalvis. This group was founded in the year 2000 during the fancy-dress party in Latvia 's Art Academy . Their first performance took place in a room with a big screen on what a slide-show was projected. Two holes were cut into the screen, through which the public could see them playing drums. Lights were changing in the room, but the viewers came and joined the process: they mixed the slides and danced in the rhythm of the music. Shadows from the dancing people fell on the screen and mixed with the projected pictures.
Starting from this performance, the participants of the group fulfilled their aim to entertain the viewer, giving him positive emotions. Therefore, they gave a positive, but a little bit ironical title to the group Totaldobže , composed of two words: total ( absolute, complete) and dobže (good in Polish language), so the title means absolutely good . For them it is important not to make show on the stage, but involve viewer into their action. Depending from their idea, participants of the group also invite professional musicians, jugglers, members of the movement theatre, dancers, as well as their friends to participate in their performances. The sources of inspiration to Totaldobže are street performers so popular in France .
The most successful performance of the group was called Lovemachine and it was going on during the opening of the exhibition Inventure in the year 2001 in the gallery of Latvian Artist's Society. Seven members from Ansis Rūtentāls movement theatre were acting in a big cylindrical object. The cylinder was transforming as well as the music and lights, changing the atmosphere of the opening. Viewers were invited to enter the cylinder where they had the possibility to join the action. The cylinder was rising up, but the spectators who were inside it, opened the bottles of Champaign with a bang. The performance lasted only seven minutes, but it was enough to change the atmosphere. The public was icejam and palsied at the beginning, after the performance their feelings changed and they felt free and comfortable.
To the participants of the group Totaldobže a performance is only one of their artistic expressions where they are fulfilling their wish to make a close contact with the spectator, using sound, visual effects and action.
